SMALL ANIMAL MEDICINE: In addition to routine surgical and diagnostic services, Oak Elm Animal Hospital provides many additional medical procedures not available at all veterinary clinics. We have top of the line X-ray equipment that allows us to perform various diagnostic procedures such as pneumocystograms, upper and lower gastrointestinal barium studies, etc.

We are also able to offer such diagnostic services as EKG, allergy testing, fungal and bacterial cultures and biopsies.

SMALL ANIMAL SURGERY: Ear cropping, declawing, spay/neuter, bone fracture repair, hip and knee procedures, various abdominal procedures.

Please note that neuter surgeries are performed on Mondays and Thursdays with a drop off between 9a - 10a and  pick up on the same day in the late afternoon or early evening.

Likewise, spay surgeries are performed on Tuesdays and Fridays with a drop off between 8a - 9a and pick up on the same day in the late afternoon or early evening.

Please no do not provide any food or water to your pet on the morning of the surgery.

SMALL ANIMAL DENTRISTRY: Increasingly, our clients have become aware of the fact that it's just as important to have their pets' teeth examined and cleaned on a regular basis as it is to protect their own teeth and gums. Our specialized services include cleaning, tooth extraction and oral surgery.

PREVENTATIVE MEDICINE: We urge you to seek the consultation of our doctors and staff in order to protect your pet against the common contagious diseases and help avoid costly hospitalization.  For example, vaccinations serve the dual purpose of preventing your pet from the infliction of significant diseases and suffering while circumventing the cost of treating the disease.  Vaccines are particularly important if your pet is a puppy or kitten and gains importance if your puppy or kitten spent time in an uncontrolled environment.

Another example of preventative medicine is applying a flea and tick preventative during the late spring, summer and early fall months in the Chicagoland area.  In addition, heartworm preventative tablets should be administered throughout the year.  An injection in lieu of heartworm preventative tablets is available.  Please ask the doctor for more information on any of the above.

PRESCRIPTION FOODS & SUPPLEMENTS: We maintain a complete line of Prescription Diets for your pets' nutritional health.

Vitamins, coat conditioners, shampoos, and nutritional supplements are also available.

A complete line of flea treatment and control products are available for your pet and home. Please consult us for advice on the proper products for your problem.

BOARDING: Our kennel is open to your inspection at any time. Charges are calculated by the number of days/nights in the kennel and the size of your pet. We provide bedding and all food, but will also feed special diets the owner provides. All pets boarding must have current vaccinations and fecal check.

GROOMING AND BATHING: The grooming includes a nail trim, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, and shampoo. Medicated baths and flea/tick dips are additional. An appointment is necessary for this service.

COMPLETE LAB SERVICES WITHIN HOSPITAL: We are a complete pet health care facility with complete lab services within the hospital.

PRICE MATCH: As a small, family owned hospital, we are unable to keep real time information on the voluminous and ever fluctuating prices on the web.  However, with your help, we may be able to price match.  Please talk to the doctor for more information.

ADOPTED SHELTER ANIMALS: We are happy to provide treatment to rescue animals that have either recently found a good home or are looking for one.  As a thank you for adopting a rescue dog or cat, we will waive the charge of our office call, $42, on your pet's first visit.  We hope the reduction of costs of pet ownership and healthcare causes more rescue animals to find loving homes.
